Day 8 Great Shunner Fell

12.5 mile Hawes to Keld

My motivation for another days walk wasn't so great this morning.  The prospect of saying goodbye, for the second time in as many weeks, to Dave and happy domesticity didn't help. Today is the shortest walk of the journey though, so we had a lazy start before Dave drove me to Hawes and set me on my way.

Hawes

Hawes and Wensleydale on the ascent of Great Shunner Fell.

Pen-Y-Ghent a day and a half walk away.

X-shaped wall and benches on top of Great Shunner Fell.

Swaledale - I don't know if it's a feature unique to the dales to have a little barn for every field.

Five hours later I'm now enjoying a lemon drizzle cake and tea reward for traversing Great Shunner Fell at the Kearton Tearooms in Thwaite. Feeding sparrows with my complementary biscuit.
